Michael DeGasperis '18 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to advance my student-athlete career with the most challenging, strong academic and athletic programs that best prepare me for post-graduate work. My strongest subjects have been Mathematics, Science and History with an overall 3.6 GPA, with a heavy AP and honors curriculum.

I have had the opportunity to play football and lacrosse at the highest competitive levels, both regionally and nationally, beyond my age group. I have the strongest work ethic at the and put maximum effort into both preparation and games, including strength and speed training, reps in practice, running plays and game time. I have a high football IQ and study my opponents weekly. My primary position is Wide Receiver and I pride myself on precise routes, catching technique and my toughness and quickness when I have the ball. My targets-to- reception ratio is consistently and cumulatively above 90%, and frequently 100%.  It is my biggest differentiator. When there is a battle for the ball, I am most aggressive and want it more, both offensively and defensively

I am always reliable to my teammates. As a freshman, I led Iona Prep HS’s Junior Varsity team in minutes played and interceptions, starting at both Wide Receiver, Cornerback as well as returning kicks and punts. I also played Quarterback. 

As a Sophomore, I was awarded:

• “Best Skill Position” on the Varsity team;
• FBU’s “Top Player” Award and “Top Gun” Invite: June 2016
• NUC “All American” Game: December 2016
• U.S. Army “All-American” Combine: February 2017

I am currently leading the league in receiving yards (averaging over 160 yards per game) and reception efficiency (target to catch ratio). 

I am in several advanced-placement (AP) courses with strong preliminary scholastic aptitude test scores. My strongest focus is helping my team build a foundation that is athletically dominating.
