My name is Andrew Albertelli I’m a senior at Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School. I am a Safety who has a strong love for football. As a child I grew up playing soccer where I began to develop skills that allowed me to separate myself from everyone else. It was always my dream to play football, But my success on the soccer field kept me from achieving that dream. I led my soccer team in goals and assists my freshman and sophomore year in high school. As I was approaching my Junior year the fire inside of me to play the game I truly loved was burning so strongly I knew I needed to give it a shot. I worked my way from being an athlete who had never played a down of football in his life to a football player who started every defensive snap for his high school varsity team. Although my main position is safety my coaches also utilized me on offense and special teams.
My early success as an athlete was not just on the soccer field. I also excelled on the lacrosse field where I was awarded the role of captain and MVP for my junior varsity team. These sports have not only made me a physically better person but have also given me a lot of valuable experience and lessons that so few are fortunate enough to experience at a young age. I have a unique vision which allows me to anticipate what will happen and I am a team player who is disciplined, focused and gives it all on the field. I value my coaches feedback and always look for ways to improve and build my skillset.
In school I maintain a high GPA while taking challenging classes. I work hard to maintain honor roll and I participate in numerous extracurricular activities such as DECA and chess club. I am also a member of the Junior board for the Celiac Disease Center of Columbia University. I continually work hard every day training with a positional coach and a strength, speed and agility coach. I would welcome any opportunity to play college football and although I do not have a major declared I would like to be challenged both on the field and academically.
