I have loved football longer than I can remember! As early as two (2) years of age, it was not uncommon to see me carrying around a football, as verified via photos. My enthusiasm and love for football increased when I witnessed my god-brother playing the sport. I began playing little league football at the ripe age of four (4) years old.
Football has aided tremendously in the development of my character, and taught me three life lessons. The first lesson was that I won't get anywhere in life without working hard and giving my all. For example, in everyday life the people who work the hardest and give their all, succeed in ways people who do not work hard cannot.
The second life lesson that football taught me is discipline. In life you have to be disciplined enough to do things, such as paying your bills time, studying for a big test, or something simple as doing your homework. Football has taught me to be responsible enough to discipline myself on and off the field; by being respectful to everyone, and making the right decisions, like not doing drugs or drinking.
The third and final life lesson football has taught me is about critical thinking. Critical thinking allows me to access a situation and make a rational or logical decision to plan a course of action. For example, if my friends want to go out for drinks and invite me along. However, I know that will violate the school's code of conduct which will suspend me for fifty percent (50%) of my games, so I make the choice of not going.
