I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. I began playing competitive, travel, club soccer at 7 years old. Both my older brothers played as well, and one of them played keeper. Quite often I would play around and practice in the goal with him. Well, in the early middle school years I began playing keeper full time on the school teams, while still playing in the field with my travel team. I was the starting Varsity keeper as a freshman, and played my first three years in the goal. During my freshman and sophomore years, I was a member of the NC ODP soccer team. During my first three years in high school, I received first team all conference awards, coaches awards, and defensive player of the year awards. By the end of my junior year, I could kick the ball 3/4 of the length of the soccer field. My leg strength had developed tremendously.
It was during one late July afternnoon soccer workout session this year (2012) that our head football coach (Patrick Turner) came to the soccer field to talk to our coach. He was looking for a kicker for the football team. I eagerly volunteered and began splitting my afternoon workout and practice sessions between both soccer and football. It didn't take long to develop a new love - football. I had never played football in my life, and in the first game of the season, I kicked a 43 yd field goal. By the end of the season I was kicking 50+ field goals in practice, with very little training.
Throughout my high school years I have swam for our school during the winter season. My spring season always consisted of travel/club soccer.
My best is yet to come. I have the potential, the leg strength, the will and the drive. I just need the right school with the right football program that wants and expects the same.
