I loved all sports growing up in the Asheboro area of North Carolina . I played football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. When I was 5 years old, my flag football team won the N.C. State Championship. I knew, at that point, that football was going to be the sport for me. I have played tackle football since I was seven years of age. I played my freshman year on the Junior Varsity team and started both ways. This past season, as a sophomore, I also won the starting positions as wide receiver and corner. I also returned kick offs. During the halfway point of the season, our starting long snapper went out with an injury and I was actually the backup long snapper. I was one of 5 players that played both sides of the ball in the Mid Piedmont 3A Conference, arguably the toughest 3A conference in the State of N.C. This past season taught me that I needed to step up and become a leader regardless of what grade I was in. Playing the receiver position, I have the ability to catch the ball well in traffic, separate myself from the defender on my passing routes and block downfield for my teammates. As a corner and safety, I take pride in playing play man to man defense. I was always playing against our opponent’s best receiver due to my ability to cover the pass and come down with the ball in a jump ball situation. My ability to cover the run improved throughout the season. My academic goals are aimed very high. I am currently enrolled in the AP (Advanced Placement) Capstone Program at Southwestern Randolph High, a program in which I applied for and was accepted to during my eighth grade year. This program enables me to be better prepared when I am in college. I take my schoolwork and grades very seriously as I was named to the Academic All Conference Team at the conclusion of the 2019 season. Most importantly, I strive to be a good teammate and a coachable player.
