I became interested in football at a very young age. Since then, this sport has had a bigger impact on me than any other activity throughout my life. It has taught me discipline, commitment, competitiveness, and leadership. The lessons that I take away from football are used every day in many different aspects of my life. This includes school/academics, work, and social life.
I have always been 100% committed to academic success over anything, including football. As you can see in my transcript I continuously challenge myself with high-level classes (AP courses) and continuously excel in them. Being the highest-ranked student-athlete at my high school (5th of 447), I have shown that I am able to commit myself to both the academic and athletic aspects of the word "student-athlete".
I believe that my ability to use intelligence on the field is my best asset to my team. In the average in-season week I watched around 4-5 hours of opponent film to prepare for our next game. I created a learning process where I was able to pick up on formation and behavioral cues that could give away possible outcomes for each play. I could make a mental list of the possible play calls that each team could call out of each formation along with what play type (run/pass) they would choose in given situations (score, hash position, down/distance, personnel, etc). The day before the game I would eat lunch in my defensive coordinator's office and create a game plan for the following day. Using this knowledge in the games, I could anticipate the play type and direction and alert my teammates of the most likely playcall. I would also pick up on audibles and signals coming from the opponent sideline.
I love the sport of football and I need it in my life. I do not want my time on the field to end and I am willing to do whatever it takes to compete at the next level. I have committed myself to the weightroom on a strict routine in order to excel in the next football season.
