My name is Ian Napue, I'm a 6'3”, 260 lb. Offensive Lineman at Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. I play guard and tackle and plan to play guard at the next level. I was moved up as a starting player early in my sophomore year. I started on the varsity O-line at tackle and continued to show my skills throughout my career at Broughton. I was awarded First-Team All-Conference Honorable mention as well as a Student-Athlete award for having a 3.5 GPA or higher during my Sophomore year. I will admit COVID-19 was challenging mentally and physically and my GPA dropped for a while to a 3.2. My senior year is going great! Classes are good, I helped our team make it to the playoffs for the first time in 5 years! This was a great finish to my high school years.
As I grew and reached my senior year I was elected to join the Leadership Council for my team. This consist of 7 players who lead the 150-person team (JV and Varsity). We each lead our own family groups of around 20-30 players. Being able to lead a group of kids from freshmen to seniors is amazing and really allowed me to not only develop my communication skills but also learn to show empathy to my teammates. This also allowed me to become a role model to the younger players and help them grow mentally and physically as well as on and off the field.
I'm looking for an institution that can offer me the right balance between the classroom and the field. I would prefer to go to a university that offers something in the technological field, such as software or hardware engineering or construction management. In a perfect world, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team. I understand this world is not perfect, however, if the opportunity presents itself, I am willing to put in the effort and fight to earn an active position on a solid team. While I am open to all opportunities, I unequivocally believe that my best fit would be at the D1 or D2 level in a program that supports student-athletes. I love football and know the skills I have gained have supported my growth in the classroom, in my community, and on the field.
