I truly believe that participating in sports has shaped me into the young man I am today. The adversaries that I have had to overcome to get to where I am today not only made me a stronger person but has also shaped my character for the better. The life lessons I have learned through sports is amazing to me. As a starting freshman quarterback, point guard and second baseman for my high school football, basketball and baseball teams, I had to quickly learn how to lead a team and compete at a high level at a young age, yet earn the respect of my older fellow teammates. I accepted this responsibility humbly and always led by example. I also had to be a quick learner whenever my team faced high pressure situations due to my lack of varsity experience as a freshman. I have always been a calm, quick thinker; however, I know this early experience developed me in ways that I would not have otherwise gained. In addition to the early experiences I had, I know that I have been blessed with God given athletic abilities; and out of respect and gratitude for these abilities, I work even hard to exceed the goals my coaches have for me and the goals I set for myself and my team. I never want to become complacent and always work my hardest to get better and encourage those around me to do the same. My performances have been noticed by many which earned both my team and myself many conference, district and state awards. As a starting sophomore quarterback and player/coach-elected captain, I led our football team to a conference and district championship as well as the state playoffs my sophomore year which has been the highlight of my high school football career so far. We were also able to accomplish a conference and district championship in basketball as well my sophomore season. I believe the off season is where players get better. I dedicate most of my free time to countless reps in the weight room, attending camps, watching film and improving my skills through workouts and trainings. Lastly, but most importantly, I am very blessed to have such amazing, caring and supporting parents and coaches. They push me to do my best in whatever it is I do in life, whether that is on a field, on a court or in a classroom. I will continue to learn and work hard to become the very best athlete, student, and person I can be. I would love nothing more than to compete at the next level and continue to build relationships and work with others to achieve success.
