It has been my dream to become an engineer from the time that I was ten years old. I knew that I had wanted to work at a job that involved math and science. This is still true today as I enjoy any STEM opportunities that I can be involved with. In the classroom, I have managed a 3.82 GPA while being involved in National Honor Society, Bible Club, Golf, Cross Country, Basketball, Baseball, and AAU basketball. I am also an altar server for my catholic church.
From the time I was very little, I knew that I always wanted to play basketball in college. Basketball has been the driving force in my life for discipline and goal setting. My parents were both collegiate basketball athletes, so this was kind of instilled in me since birth to want more for myself and to continue playing a sport I have a passion for. I am a hard working farm boy as well. My grandfather owns the last dairy farm in Limestone Twp. in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. I spend many hours helping him with farm chores, fixing barn roofs, and milking cows. I know what it is like working hard on and off the court.
I am a great candidate for any team because I am compliant with what my coach is telling me and teaching me. I use constructive criticism to make my game better. I am very regimented in bettering my skills as I pursue all avenues to play. Not only do I play AAU, but my AAU coach works one on one with me to develop all aspects of my game. Due to the fact that my dad is my high school coach, he allows many opportunities for my whole team to have access to extra shooting, ball handling, and conditioning times. I also take it upon myself to shoot and practice ball handling every day on my own court at home when these opportunities are not there for me. Lastly, I feel as though I am a quiet leader who leads by example. I use my intelligence that I have gained from playing and from studying the game to make myself and the players around me better.
I never settle for being okay. My coaches have instilled in me that you should never want to get outworked. My AAU coach, Coach Laugand tells me, "There is always someone that is going to be better than you, don't let there be someone that works harder than you." I have used this quote both on and off the floor in everything that I attempt. Whether it's my school work, farm work, basketball, baseball, cross country, or golf, I will give anything that I try 110%.
I am the oldest of five children and have been blessed enough to have been taught to think of others before myself. Through these experiences and volunteering through several youth baseball and basketball organizations and my Catholic church, I have learned selflessness and the impact that can be made by giving my time to someone in need of it more than myself.
By gaining these social relationships with organizations and youth involved in sports, I have been well prepared to learn from other perspectives and work together with a group of people toward a solution. These experiences have enabled me with hands-on experiences that allow me to communicate with others with goal setting in mind.
I am a great asset to any team because not only am I willing to learn, I am willing to work together with anyone to achieve a common goal.
