Recommendation Letter from Division 1 Head Football Coach (retired) Dave Roberts - Below is a recommendation letter from Coach Dave Roberts on Drew Person's behalf. Coach Roberts was a football coach for 35 years and was the head coach at Western Kentucky, Louisiana Monroe, and Baylor University. He was an assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University, Davidson College, Vanderbilt University, University of Notre Dame, and the University of South Carolina. During his time at Notre Dame he was the QB coach, along with coordinating the offense under Coach Holtz for record setting signal caller, Ron Powlus. He also coached NFL veteran quarterbacks Doug Pederson, Stan Humphries, and Bubby Brister.
From Coach Dave Roberts:
"I was hoping to grab your attention with mention of the great QB's I had the privilege of mentoring and coaching. The reason for this letter is to recommend a quarterback prospect that is in the mold of the aforementioned players. The prospect's name is Drew Person, a 6'4 205 lb thrower with a frame to hold and grow into 230 lbs. Drew has an unbelievable football IQ, an extremely strong arm, and throws with great accuracy and strength. Along with being a being a great prospect on the field, Drew combines his athletic prowess with a stellar academic background including a 1390 SAT and 3.6 GPA. Drew is currently attending Palmetto Prep School, located in Columbia, SC. Drew decided to attend Palmetto in order to improve his football skills and to have the opportunity compete among and against some of the top prep competition in the country. He is an extremely intelligent, goal orientated, mature young man that loves the game. I have had several opportunities to watch him practice this year and believe he is a prospect that can make a program better with his leadership and on-field command.
Please take a look at the film; I believe that you will be impressed. Drew is a kid that wants to play and compete at the next level, has a high ceiling, is open and looking forward to speaking with you all soon. If you would like to touch base with Drew, his number is (267) 929-2763. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to call at the number listed below.
I can't thank you enough for your attention. Best regards,
Dave Roberts
