My name is Brandon Drumm. I am a sixteen year old junior right guard. I have had a passion for football since the first time I put on pads at five years old.
Football has helped me work through many things in my life. This year has been the biggest example. Over the summer, my dad became very ill and he spent a week in the hospital. My extended football family gave me a place to stay, a caring ear and transportation to and from practice. I am so thankful for my brothers this sport has gifted me with.
This was also the first year I did not start. Although this stung, I honestly think it was the best thing to happen to me. I think I learned more about team morale, pushing myself to train and to practice harder to earn my right to play. This was definitely a season of character building for me. I was so excited to end the season as district and area champions. That experience left me wanting to work harder and go further next year.
Lastly, football has given me confidence. I have severe dyslexia and school has always been a struggle for me. This year has helped me find my voice to ask for help on and off the field. I believe with effort I can do anything. My grades have come up, and although it is difficult keeping them there, I think I have the right formula. I also no longer believe that I am not smart enough for college. My goal for college is to study Chemical Engineering and with some hard work and grace continue to play football. Life is about perseverance. I am going to move my feet, and drive until I succeed.
Thank you for taking your time and allowing me to introduce myself.
