I first became interested in football as a little boy watching NFL games with my dad. At the age of four, I played on my first flag football team coached by my dad. I enjoyed the competitive nature of the game as well as making new friends, some of which are still my teammates today.
I learned several things about myself through playing football. I learned when I pay attention to detail and study not only my assignment, but also the other positions near me, it allows me to make smarter decisions on the field that benefit myself and my teammates.
I learned the only way to become a better athlete is to work hard in practice. By demonstrating leadership, teamwork, commitment, and sacrifice, my teammates tend to ask my opinion and trust my guidance.
My academic goal for high school is to maintain a GPA above 3.0 and take course that will prepare me for college. I want to achieve the same GPA in college as well as taking courses and obtaining my degree in a field I can use to be successful in life. On the field, I would like to play for a team in which I can make an immediate impact as WR and play for a championship.
One of the toughest challenges I faced happened my sophomore year, when I had to sit out six football games due to a broken bone in my left foot. That summer I participated in several football camps and 7 on 7 with what my trainer told me was a high ankle sprain. The head trainer suggested I go to Airrosti for treatment and I did several times. The first day of fall practice in helmets, I attempted to make a sharp cut and could not due to pain. When my father took me to the doctor, I was told I had a broken bone on the top of my foot. After returning to football, I had to work hard and regained my starting position by the end of season.
I am a team oriented player willing to play in a position that will benefit my team. I maintain a positive attitude in an effort to motivate my teammates. I am very coachable and bring to the table my speed from running the 200 meter relay and open 200 meter sprint in track, as well as excellent conditioning and physicalness. I have the desire to perfect my skills I have and everything I do on and off the field. I have a huge love for the game of football and am excited to be blessed to play it. Because of football, I have become a better leader on and off the field.
My father has influenced who I am today. My father’s high standards, as well as his encouragement and resources, have benefitted me in reaching my goals and resulted in me setting high standards for myself as well those around me. My father has supported me in everything I have done and has never hesitated to correct me to keep me focused on what is important. I’ve been blessed to have a father in my life that has played various sports, including college football, to provide support and guidance.
