My name is Jackson Baird and I am a Senior this coming academic year. I am 6’5”and weigh 175 pounds. This high school season in tryouts I ran a 6.55 in the 60 and threw 92 miles per hour from the outfield and was clocked 87 mph off the mound. During my freshman and sophomore years I have watched the older players dedicate themselves on and off the field. I have learned from that it takes work in the cages, weight room and most importantly listening to those that have put the work in and learn from their experiences too. I have watched the upper-class men be leaders to the younger players. I too want to be a leader in our Midway baseball program when I get the varsity level next year. Helping my fellow teammates and the younger players be the best they can be both on and off the field are important. You have to lead from the front by putting the extra efforts so those around you want to dedicate themselves too. Obviously, baseball is important to me but my academics are equally important. I have challenged myself in the classroom too. I was 63rd in my class out of 682 students my freshman year and 74th out of 694 my sophomore year and my junior year. I want a college that allow me to get the highest level of education so I can move on to a career after baseball. I am looking for a college that will make me a well-rounded young man through both academics and baseball.
I have played for the Waco Storm organization from 8u-15u and have enjoyed learning to become a better baseball player and a better teammate. I learned so much about baseball through this organization. Billy Brewer who owns the Storm has helped me so much in learning the fundamentals at a young age that it gave me the opportunity to play for the JV team at Midway. I moved to the Dallas Patriots baseball organization and have played for their 16u summer team. I will be playing for their 17u team this summer. It was a difficult decision to leave my old teammates who I have been playing with a few years at the Storm. I felt I needed a bigger challenge, and the Patriots could offer that opportunity. Playing with a larger organization that plays at the highest levels is where I felt I needed to move to reach my college aspirations.
School is important to me so once my baseball career at whatever level I can reach is over I have a career to fall back to. I want to pursue a business degree and come back to work for my father's real estate business after I am finished with baseball.
I am active in our local Baptist church and its youth programs. God has given me the athletic ability to play baseball and giving thanks to him is important in my daily life. Without my youth program I would not have learned how important God is to my life. I want to play baseball for a program that shares my faith in God.
I want to find a college baseball program that can help me reach the highest level of competition, offers a great education and shares my Christian faith. I want to help lead the college baseball program I am given the opportunity to play for to be as successful as possible. I want to be the best teammate so we each can be the best baseball players on and off the field. I want to play for a program that will challenge me to be the best student athlete I can be too.
I would appreciate the opportunity to play for your program. Thank you for looking at my profile and I hope to begin corresponding with coaches that share my love for baseball, education and God.
