My name is Daxton Brown. I am 6’4”, 230 lbs, and am currently a junior at Stansbury High School. I am a varsity starter at both offensive and defensive tackle. I have been on the varsity roster since my freshman year, and have earned my starting positions through hard work and my performance both on and off the field. I hit hard on the field and hit the weight room hard to get stronger. I was just selected as a MaxPreps Offensive Player of the Game for my work on the line. I really appreciated this recognition… because I prepared and did my job well, our team was successful and came away with the win.
I started playing football when I was 9 years old, and immediately found a love for the game. I have wanted to play football at the college level from that very first season, and believe I have the talent and skills to be a valuable part of a college program. I love football because of the physicality, and the things it pushes me to do. I’m constantly learning how to be mentally tough, finding ways to overcome hard things in the game and in my life. I have learned to work through pain. I have learned that even when I prepare and know I’m ready, some things don’t go as planned and so I have to make adjustments to be successful. I’m excited to keep playing football after high school, my goals are to be successful as a lineman at the college level, and to earn my degree to help me in my future. I am preparing to take the ACT and SAT this year, and I currently have a GPA of 3.783, and I want to pursue a degree in physical therapy, or some related field.
I love competition. Besides football, I have been playing baseball since I was 7 years old. I have played varsity since I was a freshman, and play on a summer showcase travel team. I also started wrestling when I was a sophomore, and have found success in the short time I have been working at that sport. Competing in wrestling as an individual, and not as a team, has helped me understand even more the value of hard work. I, alone, am accountable for times that I fail, no one else is. I believe this is a great lesson to learn. I have had amazing coaches throughout all the sports I have played, who have expected a lot out of me and have pushed me to be better. They have seen my talent and skill, and they know I can be successful at the next level if I work hard, which I continue to do. I appreciate their confidence in me, the things they have taught me and have pushed me to do.
The bottom line is, I work hard. I work hard on the field, in the weight room, in the classroom, and at being a good person. I want to be the absolute best I can at whatever I do. I know I can be successful on and off the field, and plan to do all I can to be an asset to a college football program. Thank you.
