Hello! My name is Natalie Ogden. I have been playing tennis for only 2 1/2 years but I instantly fell in love with the sport. I always show up to practice 30 minutes early and I'm usually one of the last ones to leave because I enjoy playing that much. I've even started practicing twice a day to get even more experience. And that practice is starting to pay off as I have worked my way up to second varsity doubles last year and now the position of 1st varsity doubles this season. We also recently won our first 4A region tournament - which has never happened in the 15 years our school has existed. In a sport, you literally put your blood, sweat, and tears into it - at least, I have. I love to compete and to have fun while I'm at it. I work hard in practices no matter how tired I am, because I know that when you are able to find the mental strength to push past your comfort zone, you exceed limitations you thought you had. You achieve a whole other level of fitness, strength, and talent. I believe that some people are yet to find the strength within themselves to keep going when they think they're at their breaking point. I, however, am comfortable being uncomfortable. I will try new things, take risks, and challenge every opponent no matter how competitive they might be. One thing I've learned in tennis is that until the match is over, you always have a chance. No matter how many points you've lost, or how experienced your opponent may be, it is never too late to achieve your goal. This is also a valuable life lesson I have learned. It doesn't matter where you are in life. What matters is that you know where you want to end up and how hard you're willing to work for it. I never give up because I know that it's never too late. I want to go into a profession that involves people. Whether that's a social worker, psychologist, or something else - I'm not sure yet. However, I know that I want to earn at least a Bachelors degree in whichever profession I choose, and I want to play tennis in college. I am a determined athlete, an encouraging teammate, and a coachable player. I think I would be a great contribution to your team.
