My name is Key Derrios and I'm a 5'8", 170b running back from Chantilly, VA. I was the starting RB for my team this year. I have been playing at the position for seven years. My fastest 40yd dash was 4.37, which was hand-clocked at James Madison University. I have also run a consistent 4.45 at other college camps. My electronic 40yd was a 4.8. My vertical is 34 inches. My max bench is 250 and my max squat is 400.
I consider myself to be a leader on and off the field and I think of myself as a student athlete first. I strive not just to make myself a better player but to also help to make my teammates better. I would like to attend a school with high academic standards and I'm interested in business and marketing. I'm looking for a university where I can get a good education to prepare me for life and also be able to contribute to the success of that school's football team. I'm a hard working person and I expect to progress in my studies and on the field to position myself for the next level. I believe my best fit would be at the DIAA or DII levels, although I will absolutely consider high academic DIII opportunities. I am also a Track and Field athlete who specializes in short sprints (100M and 200M).
I do not have as many highlights as I would like to show college coaches this year because of injuries which limited my playing time. I do believe that my highlights from this year show me as a versatile player who can also have an impact on Special Teams.
I play with heart and passion for the game and everyone always tells me I play bigger than I am. I run hard and refuse to go down on first contact, always push for extra yards, and I have breakaway speed in the open field. An example of this is the fact that none of the teams we played this year would kick the ball to me on kick return because I was the deep man. My coaches also say I have great agility. I plan to continue working to increase my speed and to put weight on during the off-season. Personally, I would like for coaches to know that I am a very determined person. I was raised by a single father and he instilled in me a way of thinking that I try to live by. "If it's worth doing it's worth doing right the first time." Therefore, I am always trying to improve myself so that I can get it right when it counts. I would appreciate any opportunities to play the sport I love at the collegiate level. Thank you.
