My name is Jackson Flottmeyer. I am a Junior at Aquinas High School in La Crosse, WI. I am a two-sport athlete and maintain a 3.5 GPA.
I was one of those kids who grew up always wanting to play football and take the lead as quarterback. I’m not sure that I totally understood what that meant, as a kid. I didn’t understand the responsibilities, the challenges, and the adversity that came along with that leadership position. It wasn’t until I took my first varsity snap as a freshman, after the senior quarterback went down with an injury on the third play from scrimmage, in a playoff game that year. We were able to win that game and I had a 58-yard touchdown pass, which was my “baptism by fire” moment that solidified my passion for leading and playing this great game of football. That moment was the catalyst that accelerated my passion to achieve my team’s and personal goals, as it pertained to football.
The achievements outlined below could not have been attained without the support and play of my teammates and coaches the last two seasons:
2020 Football
• 5-3 record; Regional Championship
• 81-145; 1051 yards passing; 15 touchdowns; 4 INTs
2021 Football:
• WIAA Division 5 State Champions
• Undefeated Conference Champions
• 151-213; 2879 yards passing; 205.6 yards per game; 34 touchdowns; 4 INTs
• WCFA 1st Team All-State
• WCFA 1st Team All Region
• 1st Team All-Conference
• Conference Player of the Year
• Team Captain
Future goals
• Undefeated season
• Second Wisconsin State Football Championship
• All Academic All-State
• All-Conference honors
• All-State honors
• Division I football scholarship
• Challenge myself and my teammates to be better people, students, and athletes
While football is a great passion of mine and has had a great impact on my life, it is not my only passion. I make time to support my family, friends, and community. These people in my life have taught me how to work hard, trust and be open to the people around me, and persevere through challenges with a positive attitude and approach.
I also enjoy the bond formed with my teammates and classmates in basketball (Two-year letter winner), track, robed choir, and volunteer groups (Impact/Interact).
My passion and goals for football haven’t changed, but what has developed is my understanding of what it takes to lead a team, manage adversity, and hold myself accountable to putting in the effort to achieve my football and personal goals.
