My name is Aiden Covington and I am a Class of 2024 high school student who always had a desire to help motivate others to overcome obstacles in life and achieve their goals. This inspired me to write a book “If I can do, you can do it too” when I was 11 years old. I wrote this book because their have been people in my life who doubted I could reach my goals and I wanted to inspire others to overcome naysayers and always pursue your goals. At a young age, I wanted to pursue photography as a business but many people thought I was too young; but that did not stop me. I was able to sell my photography and have my photos sell at several galleries. I have learned to always to put in the work and positive things will happen.
As an student, I have a strong interest in studying psychology and English but I hope to find a college or university that will help me grow as a person and support me in my academic goals. My academic goals is to continue to improve my GPA and continue to explore my interests.
As an athlete, I have played soccer almost my entire life and really love playing soccer. As a sophomore, I was the Offensive Player of the Year for my Junior Varsity team. But during the 2021 winter season, a friend asked me to tryout and play lacrosse. I immediately fell in love with playing lacrosse. Over the next few months, I reached out to our high school lacrosse coach and he gave me plan to improve my stick skills. In my first club game, I scored a goal. My coach was excited because he knew I did everything he asked. With my first high school lacrosse season in 2022, my playing time grew each game because my coach knew I worked hard to improve my lacrosse IQ and stick skills. Our team played in the MIAA Conference C championship game and I got significant playing time. Making the varsity team and scoring eight goals in my first season was great start to my lacrosse career.
Ever since I started playing lacrosse, I have consistently improved my game by playing at two different lacrosse clubs, watching lots of youtube, doing film study, and dedicating at least three hours a week doing wall ball. My passion for lacrosse continues to grow and I paused playing soccer in 2022 to focus on improving in lacrosse.
I still enjoy photography and love playing soccer but my goal is to continue to play lacrosse while I attending a college or university after I graduate high school. I expect to embrace the college experience, to grow as person and have a positive impact on the student life while playing lacrosse at the collegiate level. I hope this personal statement will help you to determine whether your college and university will be a good fit for my goals.
