I am Michael Renshaw from Healy Alaska. Growing up in rural Alaska has brought a lot of adversity into my life that has matured me much faster than most of my peers. I am a multi sport athlete and contribute greatly to four varsity sports at Tri-Valley high school. I lead my hockey team in goals and assists this year, leading us to our first state tournament in many years. I was selected for all state honors in soccer twice. In track and field I qualified for state in the 100M, 200M, and long jump while winning most outstanding track athlete of the region. All the sports I play I have incorporated into my basketball game and this is what makes me stand out from the rest. For example I have incorporated great balance and the ability to take contact from hockey. I have stellar man to man defense due to soccer and quick lateral movements involved in the game. Most importantly is that my mental game is so evolved from constant competition, when a problem arises I can attack it from so many different angles then just a basketball mindset. Even with my life being extremely busy I have dedicated every day to getting better at basketball. Waking up at 6 and having to deal with -20 degree weather to get to morning basketball practice has become a regular routine for me this school year. My family doesn't say that I'm dedicated to basketball but rather addicted to the game.
