My name is Alonzo Washington and my dream has been to play division 1 basketball for as long as I can remember. I've been playing basketball since 2nd grade however in 7th grade I had Appendicitis surgery and I stopped playing basketball till high school because we had a serious scare. I have too much love for the game of basketball to stop playing. I went to an overfilled low performing public high school that gave no support to the basketball program. I decided to transfer to De La Salle my junior year for more opportunities . The transition to De La Salle was very mentally and physically challenging. I went from a low performing school and basketball program to a college prepping program at De La Salle. I was having 4 hour practices and lifts everyday and I was waking up early and staying late after school to get help from my teachers so I can stay academically eligible for the basketball season. I had to sit out 8 games because I was a transfer but I still went to every practice going 100%. I gained 20 pounds of muscle In the first few months a De La Salle and it prepared me for the season. I felt like the coaches put me In a box and didn't use me to my best ability in spite of that I continued to strive. I was very unhappy with my situation however I controlled my emotions and swallowed my pride because I know it's not about me it's about the team. I have this fire inside me to prove to myself that I'm so much better than the 2019-2020 season and that I can play basketball at the highest level. Over the summer I've been putting a lot of work in by having 3 sometimes 4 workouts a day starting at 6 in the morning. I have a chip on my shoulder and I'm going to exceed everybody's expectations
