Caden Vance '23 Recruiting Profile

Playing sports has given me amazing friends and taught me many key lessons -- how to stay calm under pressure, to put in the hard work, to celebrate good moments and learn from the tough ones, to be a leader amongst my peers and an encouraging teammate. 

I started with baseball, playing year-round as long as I can remember, from tee-ball to Little League to travel teams to American Legion, and I do love it. We put a batting cage in my yard, I worked with pitching and batting coaches, it was all I wanted to do and I worked hard at it. But then came basketball. I started casually with my elementary school team, and with basketball it seemed so natural and easy. Soon I was playing basketball every chance I got, school teams and AAU, and I realized that the fast-paced excitement of basketball, the swish of the ball through the net, the thrill of playing well is my truest love. As they say, basketball is life. 

Now my next dream is to be able to play collegiate basketball. I have not yet decided what I would like to do for a career, but I have always been interested in science (particularly marine biology) and engineering. I hope to find a school where I can be an integral part of the basketball team and continue to build my skills as a student-athlete, playing the sport I love while discovering other passions to pursue for my future career.
