Malik Charles '15 Recruiting Profile

I am a senior starting point guard  and co-captain on the  Huntington Beach High School basketball team.. In my Freshman year I was the MVP for the JV basketball team and played in the playoff CIF games on varsity.  In my Sophomore year I was awarded the Defensive player award on varsity and in Junior year I was awarded the Bill Jenkins Hustle award at my high school. This award exemplifies the athlete who always gave 100% and help each member of their team to give the fullest efforts and also by his preparation and dedication to the task of giving his best at all times.I have had the privilege to attend the Scouts Focus All- American Camp this past June in Virginia out of 7300 only 150 players in the nation were invited.  There I was able to demonstrate, experience  and play with competitive high school  players like myself.

I  consider myself to being a great  facilitator and distributor with great decision making skills that  makes the overall team better. I strongly believe that teamwork  is the remedy in making a successful team or organization. One of my many strength in the game of basketball is my great defensive skills. I have all the tricks up my sleeves to get the ball out of my opponents hands.  My aggressiveness and quickness allows me to pass right by defenders making it difficult for them to set up their game. 

My ultimate goal is to pursue a degree in Business Finance/Mathematics as well playing basketball in College.  I am seeking an institution that have a great balance both academically and athletically.  I am also open to all opportunities that may facilitate my goals.

Academically, I have taken a few honors and AP classes and plan to continue doing so in my senior year.  I am also taking extra credit subjects to eliminate doing some classes in College.  Athletically, I have alot to bring to the table.  I consider myself a well-rounded Student- Athlete  who have participated in various sports, such as football, track and field, tennis,  cross country, volleyball  and soccer.  I believe all have attributed to my tremendous athletic ability that I have today and feel I have what it takes to play basketball on any level.  My  passion and favorite sport is the game of basketball that is the reason I want  to take my game to the next level. With passion, discipline, hard-work and dedication I believe I will achieve my goals.

I am a member of the AYSO soccer club where I referee games on various teams. I have also volunteered on the Boys and Girls Club where the root of my trainings began.  I strongly believe that one should give back to their community helping others like myself. I strongly believe that I can handle any level of competition with my strong determination and drive with teamwork being my biggest motto.
