Basketball has always been a passion of mine. From starting to play in a local recreation league at 9 , to leaving soccer, my first sport, at 13 to be able to focus on basketball; these decisions were all fueled by my love of the game. Since I started my basketball career relatively late, I had to make up for the lack of skill I possessed opposed to other players by always selling out on defense, hustling, and listening to my coach. I quickly began to catch up in skill as I constantly worked hard on and off the court. While keeping the traits that I first had when I started, I added an ability to handle the ball, drive to the basket and finish, and a proficient midrange shot. Some things that I am currently working on are further improving my ball handling and jump shot and getting stronger.
When I am off the court and in the classroom, I work hard to maintain my straight A's. My favorite subjects in school are English- because I enjoy being able to express myself through writing, Science- because of my interest in knowing why things do what they do, and History- due to me liking learning about the past so that we can learn from their mistakes. These classes have helped me better my ideas of what I would want to do when basketball stops for me.
