Anthony Cerbantez '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Anthony Cerbantez, I am 17 years old, entering my senior year of high school. I live in the small town of Tehachapi which is located in southern California. I pride myself in being a student athlete. I have maintained at least 4.0 GPA consistently since the elementary. Academic excellence, as well as athletics, is my top priority. I played many years of football and baseball as well. My passion, however, is basketball. I have played year around basketball whether it be with local park and recreation leagues, school basketball, and travel AAU basketball since 7 years old. I am a current and active AAU and NCAA member. I have attended PGC basketball camps, College prospect camps, All American basketball, Exact, and other elite showcases. I made the crucial decision my Junior year of high school to soley focus on basketball, therefore I have forgone playing football and baseball for the remainder of my high school career. My ultimate goal is to continue being a student athlete throughout my high school career maintaining the highest academic achievements possible with the dream of gaining college recognition thus furthering my ability to play basketball at the Collegiate level. With thousands of students just like me trying to play at the collegiate level I am sure you are wondering what sets me apart from any other athlete? Well, here is my answer. Aside from my high academic pursuits, perfecting my craft, and exemplifying my basketball IQ daily... I pride myself in self-discipline of my mind and my heart! I believe mindset is the key to all success. I must continue to maintain the self-discipline to work harder than anyone else, put in more time in the gym than anyone else, work harder on and off the court than anyone else. Moreover, I am not afraid to sacrifice what others are not to achieve this dream. As athletes, we do not simply stumble upon greatness nor does it occur by happenstance; but rather, greatness is earned! And, I truly believe I am called to extract the champion within my self to achieve such greatness. I know my journey to collegiate basketball will not come without great discipline, sacrifice, and even rejection from many. But, I believe with an extraordinary mindset,  work ethic, discipline, and my unmatched passion for the game, I can and will achieve the impossible! I dream of playing at the highest level possible. For years I have been putting in the extra work to achieve this dream and I will not stop until I achieve my dream by my standards. I may be outsized and may even out skilled by some, but I will not be out worked! I just need to be given the chance to prove it! So coach, I ask you this....are you willing to take the chance?
