2021 Spotlight Personal Statement
Hi Coaches,
Allow me to introduce myself as your class of 2023 future recruit. My name is Jaden Young. I'm a 6'2', 170 lbs guard from Alpharetta, GA. My goal is to continue playing the sport I love at the college level while pursuing a BA in Business/Entrepreneurship. My main goal upon completing my college education is to start a business to create opportunities for others.
Qualities - Coachable, student of the game, high basketball IQ, great teammate with a strong and effective work ethic. I possess a team-first mentality.
I am in my second year as a senior at Valor Christian Academy in Alpharetta, GA where I am a starting guard and Co-Captain. Valor Christian won the GAPPS 3A State Championship this year. I was selected for the All-Region and All-State teams. Midway through my season I am averaging 18 pts, 4 rebs, and 5 asts. During regional and state playoffs, I averaged 22.5pts, 4.1reb, and 2.7asts and led my team to the 2022 Georgia GAPPS - 3A state championship of which I was selected for All State and All Region Teams.
Outside of basketball my interest are to serve the community through my non-profit "Jaden's Hoops for Homeless". I started this at the age of 9 because I saw an opportunity to give back to children who were not as blessed as others. The goal was to help as many children to not go without having presents to open during Christmas. Now, as I have gotten older it has blossomed into helping families during the holiday season to receive much needed living supplies. This now has become a part of who I am and will continue to be.
