Derrick Young '22 Recruiting Profile

Hey,  my name is Derrick Young. I am currently a Senior at the Noble Academy in Chicago, Illinois. I am a power forward or a small forward depending on the role that is need at that time. I am a basketball fan to the core. I simply love the sport. I practice a lot to improve my skills. Being left hand dominate does have it's advantages on the court. I am a force in the post. Growing up in the urban area of Chicago has had it's challenges but Basketball has been my saving grace and has taught me many core values such as determination, teamwork, flexibility, and work ethic. 

I plan to be a student athletic. I come from a very loving, caring, and understanding family. I was taught that education is the key to success. I won’t give up on my hopes and dreams. I don’t make excuses. They are not acceptable, no matter what. Being a college graduate is personal. It’s a point I must prove to myself. My diploma will be the proof that I have obtained the self-discipline needed to work and complete any assignment or goal. My plan is to be successful in whatever I do by setting goals and making them happen. I will stay positive, work hard, and create the best opportunities possible for myself throughout my college adventure and life’s journey.
