Joshua Preston '20 Recruiting Profile

 I have been playing competitive basketball since 4th grade. In high school so far, I was my freshman team's MVP and highest scorer,  and sophomore year I started at varsity level.  My junior year continued as a starter, and we even broke our schools 114 year record of most wins in a season with 32-2. We won our conference and made it to Super-Sectionals. 

During the season, I was asked to defend the best players on the other team.  I am a versatile and consistent player who plays a plethora of positions. I believe my ability to play all over the court, stretch the defense out, and guard positions 1-5 differentiates me from a lot of other high school athletes. During my mid-season review, my coach gave me the best compliment when he said I was the most unselfish player he has ever coached! I feel I have the ability, work ethic, and upside to be a play maker on any collegiate team.

Over the past couple of summers, I have been playing AAU with Fundamental University. It has given me numerous opportunities to play around the country at some of the most elite tournaments and winning the 2018 Las Vegas Fab 48. Fundamental U currently plays as part of the Under Armour Rise Circuit.  

Off the court, I’m also a competitor in school. I bring the same mindset of doing whatever I have to do to get the best grades I can. The last 3 years I received All-Academic award, and remained on the high honor roll.  

I am also a leader.  I try to make an impact, helping others be the best they can be. I lead a youth group at church and hold current leadership roles in school clubs. This summer I will be heading to Ecuador on a mission's trip to help build a community. 

The college or university that I want to attend will emphasize winning as a team and excellence both on the court and in the classroom.  I look forward to speaking with you.  Thank you for your interest.
