Lane Murphy '22 Recruiting Profile

Basketball has been my life ever since I was a kid. My dream growing up was to play basketball at the next level and to improve my game with some of the highest coaches in the game of basketball. I have a 3.8 GPA, and am looking to excel in academics, while competing in basketball at the college level.

Since my freshman year, I have started all my years on our high school varsity team and am on pace to become one of the all time scoring leaders at Mt.Pulaski High School.  As a junior, which included a shortened 2021 season,I have accumulated approximately 800 points.

During my sophomore year, I led my team in assists and was 2nd in scoring with 380 points and 2nd in rebounding as a guard. Our team went to sectionals and won 22 games, having one of the best seasons in recent Mount Pulaski history.  I was also chosen to be a part of the All Conference Team.

Throughout my shortened season of my junior year, our team had a record of 11-4. I was named to the All-Conference team again and led the team in points and rebounds, while averaging 14 points per game and shooting 46% from the field, 5 rebounds per game, and 2 assists. 

While I have been in high school, I have also participated on summer basketball teams. Last year, I was a leader on the Illini Magic and will also be playing for them again this summer. 

My coaches have pushed me to be the best I can be, and to never be satisfied with myself. I feel like I can give a team everything they need in a guard, with shooting, penetrating, and playmaking. I have always lived up to the task and will never back down from anything. I would love playing at the highest level I am capable of. It would be a dream come true to play at the highest level and I would not let any of my coaches or fans down.
