Personal Statement
My name is Tafadzwa Masunzambwa, and I'm an international basketball player from Zimbabwe.
For me, basketball is not only a place I find joy and comfort, but it is also a place that has been a catalyst for growth in all areas of my life. I have learned many life lessons from this game, and I continue to learn more daily. For instance, when I was selected as the Vice-Captain for my high school basketball team, I learned the value of leading with my actions and how to express myself vocally. I went from an extremely quiet kid to one of the most vocal on the court as I started to view the value of communication due to this new position.
Another major lesson I've learned from basketball is the value of loving what you do and enjoying the process it takes to get better. Improving my game has become an obsession, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to take my game to the next level.
I'm also fully committed to my academics, and I feel my grades and consistency in final exams speak volumes.
I'm confident I have what it takes to positively impact your program on and off the court!
