My defining moment as a leader came at the end of my Freshmen year. We had only won one game the entire season. It was a huge disappointment, especially since I knew what it was like to win games and be part of a winning culture in the private school I attended while in grade school. I did not want my team to be a "lay up" to the other schools in the league. Since then our team standing has risen towards the top of the league.
I know the value of hard work and leading by example. I've spent mornings before school working on drills, shooting, and lifting weights to improve myself. Encouraging my teammates to join me has been successful. A summer training with a Kansas State player was beneficial for me to not only understand what it's like to play college ball, but to improve my game. I want to play in a competitive college environment that has a team mentality. I have the drive and believe my leadership skills would be an asset.
