Matthew Gordon '26 Recruiting Profile

Hi! I'm Matthew Gordon from Baltimore, MD. I'm a rising freshman at Gilman School, which I have attended since sixth grade. My parents have instilled in me the importance of academics and the value of hard work and sacrifice in order to reach my potential. I am a straight A student at one of the most academically rigorous schools in Maryland, and I take great pride in the effort I have given to achieve that outcome.

I've always been a gifted athlete and have become as passionate about the game of basketball as anything else in my life. I was very opportunistic during COVID to work extraordinarily hard to develop my game; in my garage, on the blacktop and in the gym. Over the past few years I've transformed from a travel player on my local team to joining an AAU program competing on a national and regional stage. In each game and against every opponent my goal is to compete harder than anyone else on the court, and learn from my successes and mistakes. I want to improve and become more valuable to my team in every practice and game in which I participate.

My goals in basketball are closely aligned with my goals in everything else that I do: work as hard as I can, enjoy the journey and embrace whatever follows. I recognize that the skills I will learn as a collegiate scholar-athlete will help prepare me for what comes my way down the road, whether it be in the game of basketball, in the boardroom or with my family. In return, I will give it my all to be the greatest asset to a college program that I can possibly become through hard work, discipline, listening, playing unselfishly, leading by example and demonstrating support and respect for my teammates and the program.

I'm looking forward to my high school education, experiences in both the classroom and on the court, and preparing for an amazing collegiate experience.
