Basketball has been a part of my life since I was little and has always been something I have dedicated myself to and have loved. I take my school work as seriously as I take basketball, and I have continually pushed myself to take difficult classes while still getting the best grades I can. I am proud to have lettered in both basketball and academics.
As long as I can remember I’ve always dreamed of playing college basketball and been willing to put in the time and effort it takes to get there. Since I was in fourth grade each summer I have accepted and surpassed my Varsity coach’s Offseason shot challenge, striving to have the most shots made in the program. During the summer of 2020 I stepped into a leadership role organizing all of the players in the program to make 500,000 shots in total over the summer and reaching out to other players to keep them motivated.
I take pride in being a smart player and I know how to run our system not only at my position but at my teammates’ positions. I am one of the best shooters from beyond the arc and at the free throw line in our program. I believe that team success is the most important thing and enjoy setting up my teammates to have success by making the extra pass, making an assist, and doing the little things.
I have been on the Cambridge-Isanti varsity team since I was a sophomore. We are a 4A high school in Minnesota. Our coaching staff runs a fast paced, shoot at will system. This system allowed our team to rewrite the Minnesota record book for made threes as a team in a season over the last couple of years.
My sophomore year I was fortunate enough to play behind and learn as much as I could from two senior guards, both who went on to play college basketball, one at the D1 level and the other at the D3 level. I was also blessed to be on a team who won their section title and was state bound. I was able to see how a team of that caliber functions so I can be a strong contributor on a team that plays at a high level. I feel that the opportunity to watch, practice, and learn from two future college student-athletes has taught me how to handle myself on and off the court and how to be a good leader. I have worked my hardest to implement everything I have learned during my senior year season.
My senior year I was named a captain of the team and in that role I have organized offseason workouts and have been a player-coach for our fall league events. I have made it a point of emphasis to take the younger players under my wing and pass on the knowledge I have learned over the last 3 years as a varsity player.
