I have played basketball my whole life. but my wanting to play collegiate sports never hit me until my freshman year. I started playing with travel teams and started to truly see just what I could do with a basketball in my hand. Whenever I started my freshmen year for my class two school, I was so excited, nervous but excited. The other four starters were seniors so it was an honor. But then sophomore year came, this year was my year to really begin to model the way I play, which just leaked over into my junior year. I have been honored with being able to lead the team with points and/or rebounds.
I do not see basketball games as a win or lose time, I see them has a time to get better, to improve my game. I love winning games, but losing them just shows me what I need to work on. I love being able to find that new move, and using it. Now, with not being with the greatest program in the world, I have been able to truly understand the importance of teamwork, hard work, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership. I want to find a program that will not only win some games, but help me through the season to make me a better player and a better person on and off the court.
Being able to play sports does so much more than give me the opportunity to play, or the opportunity to shape my character, but also a motivation. I have had good grades my whole life with my parents both in education, but it was sports that kept me having good grades. I love playing sports, and good grades mean that I can play sports. School and sports are something I will always try my hardest at, striving to get better.
