Jake Bevacqua '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jake Bevacqua. I am a 2023-point guard and shooting guard. I enjoy the leadership responsibilities that come with being a point guard, which makes sense as to why I took the captain role on my varsity basketball team the past two seasons. One thing I feel strongly about is the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving success on the basketball court. I believe that is why I fell in love with the sport. While I am known for being a shooter, I can also play off the ball, running off screens and staying constantly active. When I come off these screens, I don't just look for my own shot, but I also read the defense to see if they left one of my teammates open. Making that perfect pass, contributing with an assist, is also an important aspect of my game.  I am not the tallest, strongest or fastest, but I do work hard, I do not shy away from competition and feel I have made the best of what I have.  I also recognize that there is more I can do and am always looking for ways to improve, learning another move or approach to try.  As a student-athlete, I work hard in the classroom, and this translates to the court, because I believe by slacking, I am not only letting down my teammates, but my coaches and family members as well, and that is unacceptable to me.
