Isiah Charles '17 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to receive a full basketball scholarship. But the most important aspect in all of this is a quality education that allows me to fulfill my goal in sports management and kinestetic science. A better education translates to a better quality of life. In addition, I want to achieve this because it is important that I follow in my father's footsteps. He is my inspiration and he recieved a full athletic scholarship as well to Duke University for football.  There are many reasons why I love this game. The sound the basketball makes when it hits nothing but net. The ooooooo's of the crowd when you make your defender look silly. The sound your sneakers make when they scuff against the hard wood. I have so much passion for this game and all I want to do is become the best player that I am capable of being. I will be a great canidate for teams because #1, I am an extremely confident player. Without confidence you cannot reach your full potential. #2, No coach will need to "babysit" me. I perform well in the classroom. What makes me different from other athletes is that I'm dedicated to my studies, basketball and my community. For years I've engaged in supplemental, cultural and community service activities. My time is well managed because I'm focused on my goals. I won't get into trouble on campus either. I'm here to do well on the court and in the classroom. #3, I am a great teamate, It is important that a team creates a bond. Without trust, it can translate on the court as "ball hogging" and poor transition defense. "Team chemistry" is what I'll bring, a necessity for  a championship team.
