Dear Coach,
My name is Andrew Ethan Rivera from Bronx, NY and I am writing to you because of my interest in playing Men's College Basketball. I play on my high school team Our Saviour Lutheran, as well as highly competitive inner city basketball tournaments; such as Rucker Park Pro Legends, Dyckman, and West 4th (The Cage) just to name a few. At 6’5 and 170lbs I consider myself to be an all around player. I am very versatile with the ability to play multiple positions within my God given talents. But, above all I am a coachable player, looking to learn something new about the game I love.
Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I play two positions, Shooting Guard and Small Forward for my school. But, I have to admit that I love to shoot the ball. This season has been great for me as a senior. I have helped my team and at times lead my team to an undefeated record. As a senior, my coach’ Coach Adam, looks to me to lead by example on and off the court. OSL has been a great driving force in my maturity on the court and in the class room. As a student, I like to be engaged and challenged to learn something new. I currently have a 2.5 GPA and I am looking to take the SAT exam in March as well as in May of this year. Financial struggles have prevented me to take the test sooner as both my parents are unemployed at the moment. But with that being said, my parents, coaches and mentors keep me focused, so I am able to stay positive on and off the courts. What I think helps me a lot in life is my love for music. I play multiply instruments, from Piano, to Congas (hand drums), to Guitar. During my freshman year, I was the lead percussionist in the rhythm section of the Classic Orchestra Band during my time at Celia Cruz High School of Music. These abilities have helped me perform in the classroom.
I hope that you are able to see me play. On my NCSA scouting page for you to view are some highlite videos for you to review.
I would love to meet you and talk about the possibility of being a part of your team in 2014. If there is anything I can do to help you decide whether I might be a good fit for your program please don’t hesitate to ask. I will follow up with you soon by phone and if you have any further questions I look forward to answering them for you.
Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing back and contacting you via phone very soon.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ethan Rivera
