Jacob Ross '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jacob Ross. I play for a small town school where teamwork is stressed more then anything else. The boys I play with I've done so scince I started playing basketball in 7th grade. Scince that year my skills have improved drasticly, my distance shooting is not as good as others due to a short tendon in my right pinky, but put me under the basket and I'll rebound and fight for that ball until it goes in or the whistle blows. My most benifical skill is my defense. As I moved up in the levels over the years my parents hear constantly how persistant I am at defense from our varsity coach, athletic director and other parents. My coaches purposely give me a one on one defense with the best scorer on the opposing team, because they know I'll move my feet and shut him down. I keep +20 scores down to single digits as I've played, defense is my forte, that said fastbreaks are how I play, constantly playing loose balls and running the ball down the court for a layup. My team knows when they get a steal to look long because chances are I am already 3/4 of the way down the court ready for a long pass and a layup.
