One thing that has shaped me is being determined to accomplish something. For example my playing time experiences in basketball have been very limited in past years, but this year I got to start and to participate in a state tournament for basketball. I waited for years to get the opportunity I could've given up through the years but I ground it out. During the 4th grade I started to shoot more basketball in my spare time and I loved it. It started my love for basketball. My first year playing on a rec team was decently fun, and I just wanted to get better and play more. I was and still am very competitive and want to play with the best competition in order to learn and improve my game. Through basketball I've learned that no matter how good you are or how hard you work, there is always someone out there that's harder working, faster, stronger, bigger and smarter than you, which means you will always have to work harder. My academic goals for high-school are to graduate with at least a 3.0 GPA and hopefully get enrolled in a community college and save money my first two years, then transfer and finish off with at least a bachelors degree. I would say every year in high-school my coach had limited my playing time which crushed my experience on court which made me have to work harder to develop my basketball IQ and playing smarter on the court. I overcame this by watching and closely studying smart players and picking weaknesses I had, so that when I got my chance I would be as ready as ever to learn and get better. I would say that I am smarter, more patient, and think through tougher situations than a lot of my peers do. I am also a much harder and humbler worker than others. I find my weaknesses and work on them to make me more of a versatile asset rather than just showing up and doing my thing or expecting others to hand me what I need.
