Hello, I am Lain Calvo, I am an incoming senior studying at LCC, Montreal. Since the beginning of High School, I always had the goal to play D1 in basketball. In my mind, I've had that goal in every workout and every training session. Incoming into my senior year I have developed different skills on the court to become a versatile player. At a high of 6'7" and a weight of 190 pounds, I have been working out to develop mobility as well as my shot mechanics so I can play as a stretch 4. When it comes to fit and adjusting to new environments I have quite a lot of experience. Living in 4 countries and constantly changing schools has made me a resilient person that easily adjusts to new situations immediately. A proof of this can be seen in the teams that I have played for. I always have adjusted to the coaching style and kept positive relations with my teammates. Since arriving in Canada I have played 2 years for my school (St Georges) in varsity as a starter, 1-year playing intercity AAA playing as a starter, and being selected for the All-Star game. In grade 11 I transferred to LCC to be able to do the IB diploma and play in the basketball school team. Due to COVID I wasn't able to compete in the school team. During 2021 summer I have participated on an AAU travel team named Red Rush playing as a starting PF/C. With Red Rush, I traveled to compete in the Hoop Groop Spooky Nook Jam and Atlantic City Jam for exposure. Coming into my senior year I am planning to play with Team Quebec (regional team) to participate in the Canada Games of 2022, as well as the school team. Academically I found myself excelling above class average in most courses, accomplishing high achievement in an overall average of 87+. I plan to study international relations and economics in college. I want to play for the team because it is a dream of mine and I find that I would be a great fit on and off the court by bringing positive energy.
