Dear Coaches,
My collegiate goals and aspirations are to pursue a degree in Sports Medicine. This allows me to combine my passion for basketball and helping others to perform at their best. I have been playing basketball since I was four years old and over the years I understand the importance of teamwork and have developed a strong work ethic and leadership skills.
I believe I am a good candidate for your team due to my leadership skills, strong work ethic, coachability, and ability to take constructive criticism to improve upon any areas of struggle. For example, I struggled to “go left”. But through dedication, effort, and practice, I became a stronger dribbler on my left side.
In my years of playing basketball, I have improved my defense, such as rebounding, and being more vocal with my teammates. On offense, I prefer to make an assist than to score. I know where my teammates are on the court and make the best decisions that will benefit our team in the moment.
What makes me different from other recruits is my dedication, integrity, and willingness to learn and grow. I have been able to use my voice to provide feedback and have positive dialogue with my coach. I have become a stronger advocate in my education and have taken initiative in speaking to my teachers about assignments. Although I have experienced some setbacks in my life, I have used those things to make me stronger. I am excited to see where this next level in my life takes me. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about who Mike Swan is.
