Oftentimes, when I think of my identity, basketball is the first thing that comes to mind. I've always dreamed and aspired to play college basketball and then go professional. I believe that I have a great athletic ability that plays a huge part in my basketball skills, but more importantly, I have obtained very valuable characteristics through basketball such as leadership, teamwork, dedication, and perseverance along with responsibility in the classroom by maintaining a 98.2 GPA and ranking 4th in my class academically.
I have played and loved basketball with a passion for as long as I can remember. I have played on a travel team ever since 3rd grade, and I have constantly learned, studied, and gained experience of the game. With that being said, I constantly try to better myself and those around me on and off the court. Nearly every action I make revolves around being a leader. While a lot of kids strive to be "cool" in high school, I do the opposite. One of my favorite quotes is that "In order to lead an orchestra, a man has to turn his back to the crowd," and I wholeheartedly believe that. I don't go to parties or really hangout with friends much. Most of my time is focused on school, sports, and the team, along with family and close friends. I hold my teammates to a high standard, but I hold myself to an even higher one. During the season, I'm in the gym nearly everyday before school getting shots up and working on ball handling. I've continuously valued the weight room, and I have started to increase my speed, flexibility, and explosion workouts as well. I'm undoubtedly, dedicated and fully committed to the team, and my team is one of the biggest priorities of my life. In life there are constantly struggles and roadblocks, however I don't let these define me or stop me; I persevere. Perseverance could arguably be my greatest characteristic simply because I don't give up. I don't allow adversity to break me, but rather to mold me into the person God envisions me to be.
I understand that it's a difficult and very competitive time in college basketball recruiting, however, I wouldn't want it any other way. I was first team all-district my junior season, and I plan to improve not only individually, but also as a team for my senior season. I truly hope that you'll give my profile a look and consider me as a recruit for your school. I'm excited for my future, and I believe that college basketball is certainly a part of it.
