Hello my name is Colton Young. I am in 7th grade and have played on my middle school team since 5th grade. I play for a small TAPPS 1A school in San Antonio, Texas. I have been playing against 6th-8th graders for the past 3 years and have been undersized but skill wise I am able to compete against older and bigger kids.
I have a desire to play college basketball and have an opportunity to advance my skill set, get my degree, make new friends and have a great experience at college with new teammates, classmates, coaches, teachers and friends.
I have shaped my game very much like Chris Paul, where I focus on being a point guard that looks to get teammates open for shots as the first option, but willing to score if needed to. I also have focused a lot on the hustle side of basketball by rebounding, stealing/deflecting passes and blocking shots. My ball handling, court vision and basketball iq are well above average for my age group.
These last few months I have worked on my shooting form from layups to mid range to 3 pointers, while trying to increase my vertical where I can touch 8’6” on a consistent basis, even though I am only 5’1” and haven’t hit my growth spurt yet.
I have been my class president for 2 years, part of the chess club, part of my school concert band playing the trombone. I regularly attend my church on Sundays and Wednesdays and volunteered for the past 5 years in different programs at church on a monthly basis. I have shown to be a leader in the classroom, on the basketball court and with my friends at church and school.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and hopefully look at some of my videos. I would appreciate the opportunity to be considered for any college team that would give me the opportunity.
