I am a 5'6 Combo Guard at Lakes High School. I've been really taking the leadership role of this young team. I've been really trying to help my teammates improve as well as myself and get back on a winning record. If I had one player to compare myself to, it would be Stephen Curry. I say this because he is a humble guy that is a hard worker willing to get better. He can score the ball and also get his teammates involved and play defense. Growing we both got told the same words. That we were too small to play the game, that we can't score, someone that can't play defense or play at the next level. Like he did, I turned that into motivation to work harder and improve everyday. Early on in the season I suffered a high ankle sprain that kept me out the first half of the season. I continued to work hard and get better but also motivate my teammates. I came off the bench being the 6th man of the team because of my ankle but that didn't stop me from helping me team win! My primary position is Point Guard but I can also play Shooting Guard as I am one of the top scorers on the team averaging 8 PPG, 6 APG, 1 RPG, 2 SPG and 1.5 TOPG. This year I've been really trying to get my shot more consistent and finishing at the rim more. As the season went by, I've seen a lot of improvement in me and my teammates. But as a Point Guard, I astronomically love passing the ball. Getting my teammates involved to score feels just as great as scoring to me. Because I'm a student athlete, I make sure I take care of work on the classroom as well as the court. Education is going to be important in the near future when I'm trying to become a man myself and get a job if Basketball doesn't workout. It's better to open up your options instead of just having one!
This summer I will be playing AAU with South Sound Basketball Academy. My coaches are Tom Kelley and Anthony Judie. The coaching staff have been helping me alot as well as my teammates to become a better student athlete. I'm proud to be apart of this AAU team. Coach Kelley's contact info is 253-306-8115.
I hope to continue to play college basketball but also want to get a better education after high school. I would like to major in Communications or Criminal Justice. I am a hard worker and I'm willing to learn and get better everyday. I am very teachable and coachable. I try not to waste a day and work on things I need to work on. I want to be successful and help my family out when they need it. Hopefully one day, my dream will one true.
