Personal Statement

I am the kind of guy that will get to the gym early and be the last to leave. My high school coaches have always been impressed with how much effort I put in. If there is an open gym, I will be there. In 6th grade, after watching Zak Showalter dunk in a Badger camp, I asked my dad if we could change up our workout routine with a vertical jump program so that I could dunk too. By the end of 8th grade, after two years of hard work and perseverance, I achieved that goal. While working on that goal and continuing to improve my game, I really fell in love with this sport, and started to dream of playing college basketball.

In the classroom, I strive to be a leader. My teachers have always spoken highly of me when it comes to leadership. I do my best to not be overbearing, but I also try to be assertive and push my peers to be better. When I am unsure of my role in a group or team, I show my leadership through body language and try to lead by example.

I push myself constantly to get and maintain A’s and have learned not to procrastinate with a busy schedule. I enjoy volunteering by helping my coaches out when educating younger grades. Outside of school and when I’m not shooting hoops in the backyard, I enjoy playing chess and practicing music with my oboe.

Although I am not sure what I want to major in, I do have interests in the areas of engineering, sports marketing, political science, and physical therapy. I will work hard and improve on and off the court as each year passes, and I look forward to becoming the best version of myself.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
