I'm someone who is very passionate about being the best at what I do, which is playing basketball. High school basketball as a Sophomore was very dreadful, coming face to face with someone who is more talented. I have lived this multiple times playing in a very tough conference.
While being a great athlete, I haven't really enjoyed any success in my high school basketball career yet! Being on a team that is prestigious for being a bad school. During my sophomore season our record was 0-24 with no playoff win. Near the end of my sophomore season I am averaging around 10 points per game and though that is pretty good for a sophomore I’m not content with that and ready to bring my game to the next level.
My goals for this upcoming season are to bring my points per game average from around 10 to around 20, have at/over a 3.5 GPA and be a big piece in our team winning the conference. My biggest goal is to receive my first college offer to a school that both fits my academic and athletic interests.
This last summer I had a very life changing experience happen while playing basketball. A former North Fond du Lac basketball player by the name of Diesel Bosin happened to come to the gym and we had a conversation about how he was thinking about applying for a coaching position in the North Fond du Lac basketball program. When I heard this I was immediately struck with a feeling of excitement, I knew that Diesel was and still is a great athlete and knows what it takes to be a great basketball player. I thought that I worked hard before, and now that I started working on my skills with him I realized that I wasn’t working hard at all and that there really are levels to working hard. Diesel has become a mentor to be and advancing my basketball skills.
This upcoming summer we have created a schedule that includes weight lifting to help with speed, overall strength, and vertical. We also spends 2-3hrs, 3-4days a week at the YMCA working on ball handling, finishing, shooting, and most importantly just being in uncomfortable situations. I'm also playing Summer League which consist of Practice, Contact Days and (2) games a week. The goal is to take me to the next level, as well as him. I think having someone along your side will make everything easier through the ups and downs.
Playing basketball has taught me so much about myself. I've learned that I love to compete, prepare, see growth and develop a relationship with my teammates and coaching staff. I would like to be able to bring all of this to your college program.
