My name is Zach Glewen and I am a 6’6 Senior forward at Sheboygan Lutheran High. Growing up, I fell in love with playing basketball. Now as a high school student, nothing has changed. Basketball is my passion, and I take great joy in working with my team to achieve great things in a sport that I love. I am a strong defender both in the paint and on the perimeter. My defensive timing and wingspan often help block shots, deflect passes and change shot trajectories from the opposing team. I am also a strong rebounder who hustles for position after a shot goes up.
On the offensive side, I am effective close to the rim and I am just as capable at scoring off the dribble. My size and strength allow me to be an effective scorer down low. However, I can also shoot from the elbows, wings, and perimeter. I have good court vision and I play within my role, working with my team offensively to find the best shot.
Basketball is one of the many sports I play. I am involved in basketball, cross country, and track and field. These sports have built my athleticism as well as my endurance. During the 2020 cross country season, my team and I won the state championship. This was accomplished through hard work, dedication, and a desire to succeed. The same desire that I apply to basketball.
My drive also extends to my school work. I am a 4.0 student and I challenge myself with advanced courses and extra-curricular activities. When I graduate high school, I want to play college basketball, as well as pursue a degree in Engineering. I work hard in school, and I work hard in sports, and my desire to succeed extends to both.
I am an effective recruit due to my athleticism, talent, and my drive for success. I work hard on and off the court and I work well within my team and with my team to succeed. My goal is to play basketball at the college level while at the same time pursuing a degree. I have learned so many lessons from basketball and I want to continue playing the sport that I love well into the future.
