Diving is a sport that was introduced to me when my family and I moved from California to North Carolina. There were no nearby men’s gymnastics clubs to join. My parents had friends who participated in both gymnastics and diving in college, the two sports complimented each other, so for me the transition was obvious, and I enjoyed the challenge of learning how to dive.
Learning a new sport can be quite terrifying, however I know that as a learn from my mistakes, I can be a better learner, applying my critical thinking skills to perform better on the diving board as well as in the classroom. I am good at challenging myself to new concepts and ideas.
As an athlete, whether it be recreational sports or in competition, I listen to my coaches, take in their advice, and challenge myself to better my performance. I strive to bring my best game, as well as help my teammates do their best too.
As an aspiring athlete I am committed enhancing my dives by having fun, practicing, and taking care of my mind and body. This past year, I have taken on an extra day of practice and personal workouts to gain strength and agility on the diving board. Mentally, I have challenged myself in the classroom by taking honors and AP classes when offered. I know that school can be a lot of work, but the diving helps to offset the rigors of the classroom. Diving allows me to have fun and hang out with my friends.
As a diver, I want to dive, that is obvious, but I would, ideally, like to dive at the D1 level if possible. I love to win and want to dive for my school. I’d love to go to the Olympics if my skill allows it and I am committed to go the distance should my skill and determination win. I am looking for a coach and diving team that is supportive and pushes my limits to be the best diver I can be. I want to be on a team that is supportive, positive, and fun. My coach should be able to understand when I am struggling and knows when to push me to be better.
To relax and spend time with my friends, I like to build and design buildings and homes online playing Roblox. Since attending Holly Springs High School, I have had the opportunity to taking drafting classes, learning CAD and Revit software. I want to create structures people can work efficiently in and make the world a calmer place. I want to study architecture and civil engineering.
I am a good student and I participate in my community by being involved in Boy Scouts. I have learned to learn and teach through scouting and the dive team I belong too.
