Driven! It's one of the words I would use to describe myself. Four years ago I had to make a choice about my competitive athletic pursuits. I had three promising options - promising because I was at the top of my game in each of them, promising, because I was equally good at swimming, diving, and track. I chose diving. I chose diving because as a Black male, I wanted to avoid the stereotypical expectation. I chose diving to elevate people's expectations of the Black male. I chose diving, and I chose to excel at it. I am driven in my pursuit of the sport !

Focused! It is the other word that has become my guide. With an intense training regime, it means I have to be laser-focused in the use of whatever time I have left. Being focused affords me to to excel at music, playing in the school orchestra as well as manage my academics.

All in all, accept me in to our program and you have a well rounded pro-athlete who will be an asset to your institution.
