I got into diving because my neighbors had a trampoline I’d do flips on and I had a pool where I’d take the tricks I’d learn on the trampoline and try a variation of what I’d learned and try it into the pool. I wanted to do gymnastics but my mom recommended diving because she knew I loved being in the pool. I took a few lessons with GC Divers and I was invited to join their team. I've been with GC Divers for 6 years and counting.
Why is diving my passion:
I like the competition that diving offers, how each individual dive has its own characteristic and you have to execute each dive with high quality.
I like conditioning my body to keep me fit
I like both the individual and team aspect of diving
The feeling of relief/pride after I learned a new dive
I love the feeling of hitting a dive especially when you didn’t think you were going to
I love being around my friends/teammates in practice
I like being able to motivate and support my teammates
I want to dive in college to better improve my diving as well as to be part of a team. In high school our whole school district had one dive coach. I’d practice with all the other high school divers in our district so whilst they were my teammates they were my competition. The swimmers at my high school swim at a completely different aquatic center so I’m missing out on the full team experience. As a result I’m really looking forward to having that experience in college.
I’m planning to major in Computer Science in college. I’ve always liked problem solving and coding so Computer Science takes the two and puts them together. After college I plan to pursue a career in Computer Science, there are a lot of jobs that use computer science in this ever developing technological world.
