Personal Statement

My name is Owen Lai, I am a competitive golfer from Canada.  I currently attend McNally High School in Edmonton, Alberta (Grad class 2021). Playing golf is my passion and I would like to continue to pursue golf at a post-secondary institution. 


Growing up I played a variety of sports. I love the competition and team aspect of sports. Previously for 12 years, I played competitive hockey, but for the past 2 years, I have been solely focused on playing golf. I consider myself to be very hardworking and self-motivated; always giving my best effort and striving to get better every single day. I believe that my experience in other sports as well as my work ethic would help me to be a great teammate. 


My efforts are not just solely focused on the golf course, I have always valued education and have a passion for learning.  Currently, I have been on the honor roll all 2 years of high school to date. I intend to keep up my hard work and studies and further my education at a post-secondary institution.
